An hour down Highway 61. On the North Shore, a car that will not start is a bigger problem than it is in town.
Auto repair for Silver Bay, MN drivers is about an hour down Highway 61 to 722 East Ninth Street. For most of the North Shore we are the closest shop with manufacturer-level tooling for a foreign make, and by a wide margin.
Shore cars live a particular life. Long runs on 61, weather that arrives off the lake with little warning, and a stretch of road where breaking down is genuinely unpleasant rather than merely inconvenient.
That shifts the emphasis toward preventive work. Battery, charging, coolant strength, tires, brakes and lighting, checked before the season rather than during it.

A no-start on the shore road is a much bigger problem than a no-start in town. Test before the cold, not after.
Between road salt and plant dust, underbody corrosion is worth a proper look every year.
Sustained highway speed is where a tired cooling system shows itself.
Tread is what you have when 61 turns icy. Worth measuring rather than eyeballing.
Coming an hour each way, it makes sense to do it all at once. Say so on the phone and we will plan it that way.
